What type of exfoliant particles are used in the KORA Exfoliating Cream?
KORA Organics only uses naturally sourced, sustainable & environmentally-friendly exfoliants.
Is the Tinted Day Cream a replacement for foundation?
KORA Organics Tinted Day Cream can be used instead of foundation. It is light and allows the skin to breathe. We recommend you use it in the following two ways:
- Apply your choice of KORA Organics Moisturizer - Immediately follow with a small amount of the KORA Organics Tinted Day Cream (dotting on the face and then massaging outwards to the outer edges of the face and down over the neck area). Blend. If you require a darker shade add a little more of the Tinted Day Cream.
- To lighten, mix the Tinted Day Cream with your choice of KORA Organics Moisturizer. Once mixed apply evenly to face and blend the mixture to outer edges of the face and down to the neck and blend well.
Once applied to the skin, how long does the Tinted Day Cream last? Does it need to be re-applied during the day?
KORA Organics Tinted Day Cream generally lasts the full day. However, if it is particularly hot and humid and you are sweating (because the product allows your skin to breathe) you may need to reapply a small amount to maintain coverage.
How is the DHA derived in the Gradual Self-Tanning Lotion?
The DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) ingredient used in our Gradual Self-Tanning Lotion is naturally derived from sugar. The molecules in sugar actually will turn brown in time, hence it delivers that naturally tanning effect. Due to its natural source, it is acceptable as a safe and non-toxic ingredient upon the skin.
What is Benzyl Alcohol?
Benzyl Alcohol and Benzoic Acid are found naturally, in many foods, such as: apricots, snap beans, cocoa, cranberries, mushrooms and honey. Benzyl Alcohol is also found in the essential oil composition of many plants, including jasmine, hyacinth and ylang-ylang. Benzyl Alcohol is an organic alcohol also found in many fruits and teas.
Benzyl Alcohol, Benzoic Acid, Benzyl Benzoate and its salts, such as Sodium Benzoate, are used in a wide variety of cosmetics and personal care products, including: baby products, bath products, soaps and detergents, eye makeup, blushers, cleansing products, make up products, as well as hair, nail and skin care products. They have become the new gold standard in preservative ingredients for many natural and organic brands found around the world.
Why do we use Benzyl Alcohol and their counterpart ingredients in KORA Organics products?
Benzyl Alcohol and their associated ingredients noted above, when combined act as a very effective preservative system to make the products safe and stable for our consumers. These ECOCERT-COSMOS approved ingredients are allowed, due to their antimicrobial efficacy and well received safety profile to consumers. Within the cosmetic/personal care industry, they have now become a widely sought preservative ingredients that are globally acceptable over other conventional preservatives.

All our products undergo what is known as Stability and P.E.T. testing to ensure they are safe for the consumer and can withstand high temperatures. We recommend you place the KORA Organics Recovery Eye Gel Cream in the refrigerator as this will provide an extra cooling, soothing effect for sore, tired, puffy eyes.

Essential Oils vs. Synthetic Fragrance—How and why does KORA Organics use essential oils?
KORA Organics only uses natural or organic essential oils to scent our products (NEVER artificial or synthetic fragrance), which follows our belief in presenting only the purest of skin and body care products. Historically, essential oils have been used for centuries to delicately fragrance the skin and have been the backbone of most natural or organic skin and body care products. We blend essential oils into our product not only from an aromatherapy standpoint—but mostly importantly—for their specific skin benefits. We use these oils at very minute levels, so as not to overpower the senses nor cause any irritation. Therefore, we do not need to include any synthetically derived fragrances whatsoever.
Can I use KORA Organics products with other non certified organic products?
You can, but we do not advise it. Non-Certified organic products contain all of the aforementioned chemicals and more. By using certified organic products, your skin and body will naturally want to rid itself of toxins. By putting additional chemicals on at the same time as certified organic products, you will decrease the body's ability to do so effectively. KORA Organics products have been formulated to work synergistically with each other in a layering effect. By mixing certified and non-certified organic products you will limit the result.
We also recommend you don't use traditional foundation as historically it is full of chemicals and instead use the KORA Organics Tinted Day Cream. KORA Organics Tinted Day Cream has been formulated to allow your skin to continue to breathe – most foundations block the skins ability to breathe. KORA Organics Tinted Day Cream has been formulated to work synergistically with all other KORA Organics products and is the perfect alternative to foundation. By using certified organic with non-certified organic products, you are more likely to develop a skin irritation as your skin tries to detoxify while still having to deal with the added chemicals. Ultimately use either but don't combine. Choose powerfully what you put on your skin as your skin in years to come will be a true reflection of the care afforded it.
Do your products contain Palm Oil or Palm Oil derivatives?
Yes, our Luminizers are formulated with Palm Oil.

Therefore, any supplier with Palm Oil based ingredients must be in compliance and an active member of the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil), an organization that supports the sustainable sourcing of palm oil without destroying native forests and habitats.
Does KORA Organics use Nuts in their products?
KORA Organics formulations do not contain any peanuts, almonds, walnuts, cashews or Brazil nut based ingredients. A high percentage of “nut” allergies are based upon an intolerance of peanuts, which botanically are not a “nut” but a legume. However, many KORA products do contain Macadamia Seed, Coconut and Shea Butter, which are considered part of the tree nut family. These types of nut oils typically do not irritate people with nut allergies and tend to be low in risk. As always, we encourage customers who have serious allergies to consult a doctor/allergist or conduct a patch test before using any product.
Why do we use Maltodextrin?
For those products that include Maltodextrin, there are various types of this ingredient depending on the product type.
Less than 1% of Maltodextrin is added to our Noni Glow Skinfood Supplement to help the powder to dissolve most effectively in liquids. Being an ingestible product, it is derived from non-GMO rice and is vegan.
For our skincare products that incorporate Maltodextrin, this ingredient holds a different function, as it helps to stabilize select certified organic extracts and/or powders. This form of Maltodextrin is “cosmetic” grade, derived from natural Tapioca Starch and vegan. There are trace amounts used and it meets the Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) standards.
Is your packaging environmentally friendly?
